Your Own Facebook Status

Why do people "like" their own status on Facebook? For those of you who are unfamiliar with Facebook, very few I imagine any more, the social networking site allows you to "like" statuses, links, and other things that people or yourself post.  There is only one issue in the fact that you can "like" your own statuses.  What is even worse is that sometimes I will be looking down my news feed and notice that someone posted a status and that same person is the first person to "like" it.  I see the like button on Facebook as almost an endorsement or agreement.  In a sense when you like something you are insinuating that you agree with the message or think that it is cool, funny, or something along those lines.  However, if you were the person who posted the topic at hand (link, status, video, picture) then you already have put your name on the topic.  There is no need to "like" it since everyone can already see that you have some sort of connection to the post.
