Chocolate Covered Peeps

I just finished reading a Consumer Corner report on the 2011 Sweets & Snacks Expo. Located at the Sweets & Snacks Expo was a family favorite treat. This time, however, its covered in chocolate.

The picture to the left, sort of, gives away which food I am talking about. Peeps are basically a marshmallow covered in sugar. Simple concept, yet they almost seem like an Easter staple. There are many different pastel color options and many different Peep shapes, but when it comes down to it the Peep everyone knows is the classic yellow chicken. The classic yellow chicken without chocolate.

What surprises me is that even though there have been many different variations of the Peep it seems that it is always the marshmallow and sugar. Chocolate has never been in the equation. Potato chips were covered in chocolate long before Peeps. The Peep almost seems too humble for chocolate! The industry thinks that they need to spice up this snack to appeal to consumers. Chocolate covered Peeps are streets ahead! FALSE. WHY DOES AMERICA NEED TO IMPROVE UPON EVERYTHING! MAYBE PERFECTION HAS BEEN REACHED BEFORE, BUT WE ALWAYS TRY TO ADD TOO MUCH AND RUIN IT!
