With technology comes laziness. That's the bottom line. I summarized this entire blog in the first sentence. The rest is details. When was the last time you watched a television show because you couldn't find the remote? Have you ever settled for an unhealthy meal because it was simple in comparison to alternatives?
The world today is based upon what can I get, and how soon can I get it. A good example is vending machines. In New York there is a vending machine for meals. You can get burgers and fries from this vending machine! I watched a kid's show on Nickelodeon the other day because it was what my sister was watching before she left the room. I sat down and realized the remote wasn't within grasp. So, I did what most people do and just gaze at the T.V. until I was forced to move.
Now, laziness doesn't affect everyone in the country or world. But it is coming close. People are always looking for the most efficient way to do something. However some things don't have a readily available solution for a quicker completion.
People ask me why I run outside in the winter. Specifically why I would run outside in the Iowa winter. I have to stay in shape. Running is a passion, lifestyle, and almost a religion. As lazy as I am, I love being able to go outside and push myself to the limit. It brings you closer to nature which is why I mention it's religiousness.
In summary; people are lazy and technology affects it. I am not saying all lazy people are bad though. I can be extremely lazy and procrastinate, but I get things done. I realize the importance of things. For example my running is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. So, no matter how cold, how tired, or how lazy I am. I still force myself outside to put out a couple of miles.
