Super Bowl and Super Heros

It's the big day. Two teams have prepared all season for this moment. A chance to get another ring, and probably some sort of bonus check. The thing is, there are so many people who watch the super bowl with no opinion or preference as to who wins. These people are a mix of fans whose teams didn't make it, gregarious people, and people who like commercials. Regardless, they will all watch this game.

I fit best into the gregarious category, however I also enjoy most commercials. I couldn't care less who wins today. I couldn't care less about professional football as a whole. I have my favorite teams, but I don't follow them through their struggles and victories. I do enjoy hanging out with other people, and watching new commercials. The camaraderie of Super Bowl parties are my favorite part. The aspect of eating fattening foods and conversing with peers attracts me to Super Bowl parties.

Besides the food, I am hoping to see an extraordinarily great commercial for the Captain America: The First Avenger movie and the THOR movie. This movie, starring Chris Evans, I hope will be great. I love Captain America as a character and I am happy that he is getting a movie for the eventual Avengers film. However, with any movie there is a chance of failure. It just seems like this chance is greatly increased with super hero movies. In recent years there have been super hero movies that have broken this trend. For example, Iron Man and the Dark Knight.

Thor has also always held a place in my heart. This Norse god is an admirable character. I only hope that I am not blinded by my love for these characters. I don't want to walk into the movie theater expecting a great movie, and then allowing stubbornness to not allow me to truly view it. I have a friend who does this movies he loves, and it can be very annoy. He refuses to agree that a movie is terrible if one of his favorite characters is in it.

This was a long blog post. Tried to cover a variety of things I guess. Well I hope those who want to enjoy the game do. I will be enjoying the commercials and food. Also, don't be one of those guys refuses to see a movie for what it truly is.

Cliche Bank Names

Cliche is defined as an overused expression of idea. A lot of classic sayings have become cliche due to popularity. One cliche, that no one really thinks of, is around due to our banks.
Just a thought:
As I drive down the main street in town. I pass by many wonderful banking opportunities. It doesn't take long to see the commonality. YOU WERE THE FIRST. Banks have this annoying habit of throwing in the word, "First" in their titles. It isn't something that a lot of people notice. It just seems common. However, this makes me really curious how many other banks are trying to name themselves the same thing? There is one bank, however, that jumped the gun. It didn't even wait for there to be a first or second. I am of course talking about the Fifth Third Bank.

The Fifth Third Bank waits for no one! Every time I see one of these Fifth Third Banks I chuckle. I can't contain myself. It's name sort of indicates that there were four other third banks before it. Fifth Third Bank could just be called the 7th first bank.

Why?

Have you ever visited a smaller town in which they allowed parking in the middle of downtown streets? Why? I drive through these areas twice as cautious as usual. This thought process doesn't make sense. There has to be some odd statistics of accidents increasing due to this method of city zoning! Why! I drove down a street like this when 20 meters in front of me child appeared and were running without care! I agree that when running you should do it in a carefree manner, but this isn't the place! Okay, I prefer to run in streets. That is besides the point, they weren't running for training or health benefits. It was dangerous, and due to their inconvenient parking spot they were closer to traffic than they would've been if they had parked along a sidewalk.

The nerve of some city planners, or the nerve of some people who design the parking for down town areas!

Camera Technology

Thought of the Day #1:

Who needs timers on their cameras when you can just take a picture of your reflection in a mirror? Just as classy...

Trash by the foot

I was driving to Cedar Falls last night and I had brought with me some food. I had some uncrustables (sp?) and some fruit by the foot. I was saving the uncrustables for the trip home, so I was eating the fruit by the foot. It was good. I hadn't had one for quite some time and enjoyed the fruity/ gummy taste.

The only issue I realized was that when you were done you still had the trash. If you want a snack that offers a foot of food also offers a foot of trash. It wasn't long before the floor in front of my passenger seat was filled with foot long strands of trash. It seemed like there was so much more with it's winding around every which way. I just don't know if there is a more efficient way. It just seems like maybe in hind sight they should recycle these strands. Otherwise it just seems like a huge waste, and the snack isn't THAT great.

Simple Indulgence

The true focus of this post will be at the end. You may read this, and wonder, "Max, what's your point?" Assuming we are friends then I ask you to trust me. Patience is the key.

Simple. A two cookies with cream in the middle. An American staple. The sweet sweet indulgence that a simple food can bring. If you haven't guess, I am talking about the Oreo.

The Oreo is phenomenal. Throughout the years there have been many renditions, but the concept is the same. However, there is one rendition that never went away. DOUBLE STUFF! Double stuff Oreos are delicious. There is no doubt in my mind. I thoroughly enjoy them as do a great number of people. My only question is, what happened to the standard?

The normal Oreo seems to have gone missing! With the double stuff Oreo, is there a need for a normal Oreo? The double stuff has become the standard. It used to be a big deal if you bought a package of double stuff Oreos, but now it just seems natural.

America loves euphemisms. Can the average person handle the truth? No, and that is why we use euphemisms. Here is my solution to the Oreo issue conveyed above. Change the double stuff Oreo to the regular Oreo, and rename the regular Oreo...THE DIET OREO! It's brilliant. A nation with the constant threat of obesity disguising a simple Oreo as a diet! It only makes sense. Plus it isn't lying because the new regular Oreo has twice as much filling.

I hope you read this whole thing, and did wish for immediate satisfaction. Sometimes there needs to be a little background reading into my thoughts.

Pierce Hawthorne

Pierce Hawthorne is a character in one of my favorite t.v. shows "Community". He is a drastically inappropriate elderly man played by Chevy Chase. If you aren't watching "Community" yet, then start. Season 1 is out on dvd and I wouldn't think twice about buying it. I have only seen a few episodes from season 2 but I plan on buying it as soon as it is released on dvd. Here are some of my favorite Pierce Hawthorne moments.

Annie: WWBJD?
Pierce Hawthorne: If that stands for "What Would Billy Joel Do?" I'll tell you right now: he'd write another crappy song.

Pierce Hawthorne: And Annie knows a thing or two about guilt. Am I right, Jew?
Annie: Say the whole word!
Pierce Hawthorne: ...Jewie?

Pierce Hawthorne: Getting punched in the face is a rite of passage. In the 70s, a Friday night was smoking a doobie, kissing a girl and getting hit in the face by Republicans.

Those were from just one episode! I mean come on this guy is golden. Go youtube him immediately and thank me later.
